Time, and the ability to control time, is your power and although it is just one of the “superpowers” that SM bestowed on you and your fellow members, I really think that the power over time suits you well. You’ve grown a lot, Zitao, you’ve changed and matured so much, and yet at the same time you haven’t seemed to change at all. From a boy chasing a dream, a dream to be famous, a dream to be loved all over the world, a dream in which you can perform on stage, in which you can pursue your passions– you’ve now become a man who has reached that dream. Yet, throughout the difficulties you’ve faced, you haven’t lost yourself. This is what I love about you, Zitao. I love your sincerity you put behind every word, your openness about your emotions, your genuine love you show for EXO and your fans. I love how you don’t fit the typical “idol mold” – the mold in which idols sometimes seem like robots – programmed to say what the company wants them to say and to act according to their “image” that the company established. I feel like when I see you perform, when I see you laughing and trolling with the other members, pasting signs on the back of Junmyeon’s head or snatching away the chopper toy from Luhan, when I watch you cry because you miss your grandmother or because of the love from us fans - I feel like I’m seeing you.}

I don’t need to have met you to fall in love with your determination and perseverance you show in your wushu and your late night practices. I don’t need to have talked to you to fall in love with your soft voice, your bubbly laughter, your smile that makes me break into a smile, even on my worst days. I don’t need to have seen you perform to fall in love with the charisma you express on stage, the way you throw your own style and flair into even the most choreographed dances, the way your face lights up as you easily control the stage when you have your solos. _{I made this edit with a purpose in mind. I wanted to try to show him and his progression over the years, and the only way I can ever accurately express him is through his own words. Inside the hourglass are his quotes – his predebut quotes that show how beautifully he weaves words together and how poetically he can express himself. His quotes that show his strength as a person, his independence, his pursuit towards his goal. There are quotes that he wrote expressing his happiness and gratitude when Exo won their first award, and there is a message he wrote last year on his birthday, his first birthday with so many people who love him celebrating this day with him. Finally, there is his quote: “世界对我来说没有不可能” - Nothing in the world is impossible for me. Nothing in the world is impossible for you, Zitao. You have achieved so much at such a young age, and with each passing year, I hope you fulfill more and more of your dreams.}
